Editor's Notes
One of the frustrations of this project is that we have no idea what John is thinking, or the family dynamic when they are all together s, of course, then they aren't writing letters to each other. It seems John is just back from a two week vacation with his family, which is why the letters skipped a few weeks.

My Dear Sue:
It has been hard work to get down to business this week. Yes, vacations don't agree with me at all. Two days and I have one little order for $17.00 and that's all. I must not find any fault. I drove over to Little Meadows last night to see if I could hold a customer in line who asked to have order cancelled. I was unsuccessful. Have worked in several towns today, including Owego and Atkins and Sayre Pennsylvania but without an order.
I expect to get into Elmira sometime tomorrow afternoon. It has been raining hard all the evening and I have some dirt road tomorrow. I rather think I shall spend Sunday in Wellsboro, PA Cowles House. It's hard to stay out over Sunday on kind of business I'm having just now. We have much to be thankful for and we must keep happy. We had a good two weeks together. It was very kind and thoughtful of you and the girls to make a surprise party for me. I enjoyed it very much and appreciate it.
I have been sleepy these two days and guess I'll retire.
Love unmeasured from your loving,
Jack

If you're new to this project, please consider going to our site and catching up with a few letters from the 1900-1910 era. The letters only take 3-5 minutes to read and you'll find the characters more fully develop if you read the letters chronologically.
John has excellent handwriting. However, in some instances, I cant decipher it. If I can't, I simply mark the spot with "xxx"s to signify thank the word isn't decipherable.
