My Darling:

Decided to put in part of today in Towanda and so worked hard there until noon and not a sign of any business. We had a nice shower yesterday afternoon and again in the evening and the roads were fine today no dust and no mud. This town since arriving here at 4:00 o'clock. And have worked today in two other small towns, and I am completely skunked. Will start out early in the morning for Troy and don't know where I'll land tomorrow night. Things don't look bright in these parts and I'm not going to spend too much time in towns that don't produce.

Nothing new to write except the old story of my deep love for you. Have not seen Hantasd [sic]. Get a letter from you at Towanda today, but did not. I left forwarding address. Hope you are all well and happy. I am counting on Frank's making his examinations and tell him not to disappoint me.

Love for all,

Jack

Editor's notes

If you're new to this project, please consider going to our site and catching up with a few letters from the 1900-1910 era. The letters only take 3-5 minutes to read and you'll find the characters more fully develop if you read the letters chronologically.

John has excellent handwriting. However, in some instances, I cant decipher it. If I can't, I simply mark the spot with "xxx"s to signify thank the word isn't decipherable.
