Sweetheart O’Mine,
It is past supper time by the new time but I am eating and sleeping and working on the good old time
which is plenty good enough for me.
Your sweet love letter written last night was received a few minutes ago and I was glad to get it. Have worked hard today and am tired tonight. You will be just delighted to know that the Hygeia Refrigerating Co. gave us their order this morning for $130. You may remember they gave us an order for “Head of House” in large hanger, providing Osborne Co. would make it in that size. They turned down order and now we have in smaller size. Have one other order for $40.00.
Your friends at Newark [John’s bosses] don’t say anything to me and you ought to know it by this time! They say it to you! I have written your old pal Mr. Wilson, tonight asking him to tell me the names of the men who are in the xxx marathon. I don’t believe there are more than 10 men in it. Suppose you want me to go after that painting now. Guess we have better keep going until we get the silver and then we will go onto farm for summer. What did you say?
Your price on the farm is none too high. It’s about right. You must plan the garden, you and the Lloyds and all the other things. Have you done as I asked you about the insurance? I want to list all our cows and have insurance readjusted. Must get it done.
I went to Trinity Church at noon today and heard a fine sermon. Church was packed.
You have got your nerve alright, I’ll say! I propose to come home Friday night in spite of all you say. I want to see Bess and Marion and Louise [whose birthday it is], even if you don’t want to see me. You want me to work every minute. I’ll fool you this week. I want a piece of apple pie for supper made from real apples.
Will leave here sometime tomorrow for Binghamton. Hope Liz will have fine time.
Jack
