Today's installment is a group of postcards by, for and between the Briggs, now teen, children
Dear Marion,
This has been a wonderful day and I wish you all could have been here. It was heaps of fun on the sleeper. We didn't sleep much bobbing up to look out every once in a while. Woke up at 5:30 and so wonderful out sunrise and all we just started getting up. I have been without my coat it is so perfectly grand out. Grass green, trees "Leaving" and magnolia blossoms. Our tour of city good. Great day to be out at monastary. All packed in trollies. We also went to Navy Yards. Never been there and boarded "Mayflower" president's yacht. I am not a bit tired and cant understand it. Love, B
[B. is Elizabeth, or Bess. Marion's 18 year old sister and John's second daughter.]
Am sending this card to you because we cannot go here. [Referring to the front of the postcard of "The Blue Room" at the White House.]
Dear Frank,
Don't you wish you were here? It has been rainy and dark all day. We went to church at St. Johns. First ones there but couldn't get in until we had decided to come home, then stood right by boy's choir and alter. We went to the Corcoran Art Gallery. We did not go out to Arlington but went out to see Aunt Mildred. Had a good time and glad I went. They went up in the monument but it was so foggy they couldn't see anything. It was scheduled for tomorrow. Just had a sandwich, Marion. Glad you put them all in. Don't notice the cards I am sending you. I am not the least bit tired and that is the honest truth. I have been quite useful as a guide.
Love, Elizabeth
[Elizabeth is Frank's 18 year old sister and John's second daughter.]
To Louise,
Fourteen kisses await you when I can catch you.
Uncle C. S.
