South Dayton

Dear Mother,

We are all going to Niagara Falls either tomorrow or Thursday. I can't wait until I see them. I'm going to get some pictures of them whether I get a booklet or not.

Goes right, we are going to start for home the 11th and will be there sometime towards night

Thursday. I want you to be sure and write me a letter and tell me what to wear home. We are all going to take our dinner and supper for the 11th, but we will have our other meals in a hotel or restaurant, so I want to look halfway decent and not like a hobo.

Shall I get some little jigger for Ellen? That hair net you got in Utica that day with the rubber is good enough to wear home for a veil and if you will please send it in your letter I want to get a new one.

Last night we took a ride to Ball Hill and when we reached the top, we had a wonderful view. Marjorie, Hannah, Andy and I went to church in the morning. Ann didn't act good because she wet her diapers, and so we didn't stay only till the hymn before the sermon. I wore my pink dress and it was so cold I had to wear my coat.

Al’s sister won't be able to go home with us, so they will probably pile all the more in the backseat with us.

Last night, while Hannah and Marjorie were down putting The Dirty clothes to soak, Al and I got lunch. He warmed up the potatoes and I made some baked eggs that were swell.

I made a chocolate loaf cake this morning. And a cooked frosting this afternoon. Oh yes, and a swell salad dressing.

The S. Dayton Campfire guardian lives Next door, and she asked Hannah and I to go on a hike. And we neros tonight with them, but it is raining, so they have postponed it.

Hannah is out in the kitchen, ironing (4:00 o’clock) and Marg. is making cookies. Al and Marg are going to a farewell party tonight, so we will be alone. Now don't forget to send me that hairnet and tell me what to wear home. I don't know anything more to say, so goodbye. Lots of love,

Squash

P.S. This note that is in the envelope is just for Marion and Eliz.

Shall I get a Pyrex dish to bring home for mama? Marjorie has got quite a lot of it. There is one dish that you can bake cakes, eggs, macaroni and pudding etc. in. It is an oblong dish. When mama writes to me tell me whether to get one or not.

Editor's notes

This week, the next pile of cards and letters is from the girls in the family. 14 year old Louise is visiting family friends near Rochester, Elizabeth has started classes at Syracuse University and Marion appears to have started her first job–teaching school in Millville, New Jersey
