My own Darling,

My heart has been gladdened today by three letters from my sweetheart of 10 years ago, made sweeter by traveling with you these ten years through sunshine and shadow, and by reason of loving service bestowed on each other. Can we ever hope for another consecutive 10 years with so little sadness and sorrow as far as our own immediate family is concerned.

How thankful we should be to God for his wonderful blessing upon us; so little sickness and so little trouble, none too

much to make us appreciate the best of our blessings. God has given to us for our care four little stars to light our way, and their shining is blessed.

We have not had from the material side as much as we might have wished for but we have never been in need of the necessities of life. I hope you will not always have to work so hard as during the past few years. Surely you have been busy and no time has been wasted on your hands.

This is the night before our tenth anniversary and as I have your sweet picture before me at the desk, your cordial greeting to me the night before ten years ago is fresh in my mind. The evening visit on that evening before the eventful day is fresh before me. I am living over the scene with you. God bless you, my darling wife, and may your life be xxx to be a blessing many, many years and may our wedded life continue to grow brighter and happier with each such xxxx year.

I returned from a very long drive this PM with a hardsick headache. Am feeling better now, and I think I had better retire. Am sorry you were disappointed in not seeing me Saturday night. I couldn’t have gone home without quite a lot of time and expense.

Goodnight, my darling wife of ten years filled with cheer and brightness.

Your affectionate,

John
